Paul Gustafson reflection on Peer Mentorship Network journey

Paul has been a long standing member of SCI Sask, an employee, and a huge supporter of the organisation and the disability community in general.

He started out his career working at the Canadian Paraplegic Association [CPA], which is now Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan, and has worked as a rehab counselor and education & employment counselor here for a few years.

Paul shares a short message reflecting on his journey with Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan:

"Before the Peer Mentor program existed, it was a very informal peer mentor program and I had a couple, three, actually four guys came in and visit me in the hospital when I was in rehab and I did my rehab down in Wascana in Regina being from Southern Saskatchewan.

From there, the counselor came out to my small town, got me involved with farmers with disabilities at the time, got me involved with education, finishing off my high school, and that’s when I started at the University of Regina following high school and stayed involved with SCI Sask, [it’s still CPA in my head], ever since."

Paul has held positions as an accessibility consultant, teaching adapted physical education, and as a student advisor at the University of Saskatchewan.
