CK Tan Takes on the Challenge Again This Year For Chair Leader 2017
I believe in a world where people are perfect in every way. A world where everyone is able to do their part in contributing to the communities and the world they live in. A world where people are mobile and able to move around freely. A world free of discrimination of any kind.
That however, is not the world that we live in. We live in a broken world. But we can make a difference. I am doing my part to increase awareness of spinal cord injury in our society. I want my community to be aware that all of us, regardless of our ability can succeed in every way that we aspire to.
I participated as a chair-leader in 2016 and it opened up a whole new world for me. I never thought that doing simple things that we take for granted became a challenge. Turning on the lights, picking up something from the floor, going to the bathroom, reaching for something on the top drawer. It was just two hours of my life, but it was an eye-opening two hours.
The story of Nick Vujicic has inspired me to do my part. Born without any limbs, he is now an inspiration to millions across the world. He has done what so many of us can only dream of, but he’s living it. He’s a living example of how we can live life to the fullest, to live our lives according to the gifts and the purpose of our existence on Earth. Just do a quick Internet search on Nick. I’m sure you’ll be inspired as well.
I encourage you to support this cause. We can’t change the world overnight, but we can change it, one step at a time.
