Mavis shares her story about SCI Sask

Mavis Bristow has been a client of SCI Sask for many years, she also has been the organization dedicated contributor and supporter.

She reminiscing her experience with SCI Sask through the following story:

“After my car accident in 1968 the first organization to contact me was the Paraplegic Association, as SCI was known then. The executive director, Don McEown came to see me early the next spring in Strongfield. He reached out to me offering help with anything I might need. I think the first thing I took advantage of was a reduced cost to our motor vehicle licence. Eventually there was assistance with the cell phone plan. They were very good at keeping in contact and they also put me in contact with a young woman near Melville who wanted to have children. Since I had two after my accident she reached out to me. She had three children of her own. I forget her name. Her children would be grown now.

I also should have mentioned when you have the women’s group meet online during Covid and the time I met several of the women for supper. Those times were special for me to get to know some of the younger women and admire them!"
